Pic from a magazine article. Good stuff…
The picture shows the 1967 427 SOHC powered Mercury Cougar. The front end was a flip-forward deal that was, obviously, removable as well.

Been awhile since we’ve seen the SuperCat here.
This was pulled from a ’68 issue of Cars Magazine. This is meant to be for framing…and the purple-ish color is the original color of the border. Yikes.
The caption reads:
Wayne Gapp (427 OHC Cougar) pulls a gigonda holeshot on a 427 OHC Fairlane to class at CARS Mag meet.
This image comes courtesy of Daryl Huffman…he of the ‘Gate Job’ restoration.
This is WG’s 1967 Cougar at Milan running a 427 Cammer.
Here’s a pic of the Cougar from early ’68. Looks like the mechanicals are done and they are shaking the vehicle down.
Weather looks cold!
This is slowly turning into one of my favorite vehicles.
I’ve also liked the body style of these late 60’s Cougars, add in a 427 SOHC engine and pretty paint job?
What’s not to like?
