This is the cover from the edition. Not the car that was used in Amarillo. This is the car they bought from Barrie Poole and rebuilt.
They were flying that day.
Here’s a link on this site to another entry about this race.

This is slowly turning into one of my favorite vehicles.
I’ve also liked the body style of these late 60’s Cougars, add in a 427 SOHC engine and pretty paint job?
What’s not to like?

Check this article.
See #23.
Couple of things. The team lasted from late 1970 through 1978. The mention of the driving is nice but by looking at the other entries on this site a person could tell that there was quite a bit of engineering skill involved as well.

I sent to an email to Daryl Huffman. Daryl owns the body to this vehicle and the chassis as well. I believe the chassis is under the ‘Gate Job’ Comet rebuild.
Daryl was kind enough to send a few pictures my way.
Below is one of them. Shows some nice front end detail.

Tripped across an interesting article talking about Gapp & Roush, the ’73 Pinto and other good stuff. The article is on the ‘cookieboystoys’ web site
Check out the article here.

A few things about this photo.
One…that’s my Dad.
Two…he’s working on the Boss 429 Mustang Flopper.
Three…he’s outside of the garage where his business “Performance Engineering” was located in Dearborn. This was the location before moving to Livonia.
Lastly. Look at that fuel-injected Boss 429!
Cool, eh?

Wheelie!
Wheelies are a waste of time. Physics people. Go out…not up 😉

Sitting in Florida talking with my Dad. Lot’s of good pics and other information. Lots of scanning to do and stories to tell. Should be a good year.
This Pinto was built but was crashed…twice and then sent packing. My father was not the driver in either of the ‘incidents’.
The venue for the video is the same…that is Toronto and what appears to be an appearance for the United States Racing team.

Here’s another bit of video. The vehicle is a 1973 Pinto. I believe this a United States Racing Team match race
