A post about Barrett-Jackson, ‘Gate Job’ and a 1969 Mustang…
Here is a link to the Barrett Jackson web site.
The link is to the Pete Gate ‘Gate Job’ funny car. Sold for $176,000.00.
Why post something here about that vehicle? This car was purchased by my Dad back in the late 1960’s. He sold off the bits he didn’t want or need, had his Mustang body built and mounted on the chassis of this car.
Images of that vehicle, the 1969 Mustang, can be found elsewhere on this site.

Here’s a shot of the ’69 Mustang. Finished mechanically and waiting to get a bit more on the paint side of things.
Gapp & Roush – Pro Stock Mustang II
This shot, I believe, is from the article that ran in one of the popular magazines of the day.
Not a bad looking car…
1969 Boss 429 Mustang pic
I sent to an email to Daryl Huffman. Daryl owns the body to this vehicle and the chassis as well. I believe the chassis is under the ‘Gate Job’ Comet rebuild.
Daryl was kind enough to send a few pictures my way.
Below is one of them. Shows some nice front end detail.
WG and the Boss 429 Mustang
A few things about this photo.
One…that’s my Dad.
Two…he’s working on the Boss 429 Mustang Flopper.
Three…he’s outside of the garage where his business “Performance Engineering” was located in Dearborn. This was the location before moving to Livonia.
Lastly. Look at that fuel-injected Boss 429!
Cool, eh?
Boss 429 powered Mustang Funny Car
Side shot of the Mustang. Nice color shot showing a bit more detail of the vehicle. This car was built by my Dad and Bill Jameson to compete in the AHRA-sponsored Gas Funny Car circuit on the East Coast.
Fuel injected Boss 429 power.
Here’s a link to a magazine article about the car
