Here’s another shot of a Pinto. Note the different paint scheme. If I remember correctly this vehicle was wrecked but not by my Dad.

Gapp & Roush Performance
a 1973 Pinto
69 Mustang
Cool ride.
3-24-2010: The original headline was “68 Mustang”. Tom Tate pointed out to me that this is a 1969 Mustang Convertible. Doh! My bad…
A little bit of back story on this car. My Dad tells me that the Jack spotted a hole in the Super Stock rules that enabled this car to win class at Indy with WG driving. The idea, of course, to get a bit of attention for this new business called ‘Gapp & Roush Performance’. Perhaps you’ve heard of it?
Be nice to have this car today.
United States Racing Team…
I’ve got an original from Atco.
The Blue Maverick in action
A 3/4 angle shot showing some nice detailing.
A link to “Hailing the Cab!”
This is a very nicely done article. My Dad’s quotes are spot on for not only the facts but also nailing his personality.
If you have a moment…take a read. Here is the link.
My only complaint is the subhead of the article which is ‘The checkered history of Pro Stock’s most uniqe factory hot rod’. Nothing checkered about it.
Picture of the Day – Taxi
Another pic of the Taxi from the Wide Web.
Gapp & Roush 1975 Press Information cover
This is from ’75.
The bits inside include a biography of the two principals, discussion of the vehicles and a few photos.
Cool.
The First Pro Stock ride
Maverick’s. Here’s the first one. Blue. The second was red. This one was pretty much a standard car that was tubbed, etc. The second was purpose built.
