Here we see a fairly rare picture. This is a picture of Wayne Gapp and the 1971 Maverick. He tells me that he and Bill Jameson built just before Roush came on board.
During this time WG was the Ford’s lead engineer for the Boss 429 in NASCAR and Drag Racing applications.

This is the ex-Barrie Poole Pinto that was purchased by Gapp and Roush and ran during the 1973 season. It was later destroyed.

This picture comes from Drag Racing USA’s October 1974 coverage of the SummerNationals at Englishtown. Result: Runner up to Larry Lombardo.

Another fine image by Kenneth Wilkins of the 1973 Ford Pinto of Gapp & Roush. This is part of set of images and here is a link to another one.

Fun shot of the 1973 Ford Pinto of Gapp & Roush in 1974

Nice 3/4 shot of the 1976 Pro Stock Ford Pinto at Bristol. This is another image provided by Kenneth Wilkins. See the other here.

Another image by Denis Scott. See a similar image from the set here.

The picture below is a fairly typical scene. My Dad (right) refers to Bill (left) as what the teams call today the ‘Crew Chief’. This image was taken by Kenneth Wilkins @ Bristol in 1973.
FYI – Kenny owns the ‘Country Shindig’ Maverick, one of my favorite non-Gapp & Roush cars.

The caption reads:
“Wayne Gapp’s Super Cat Cougar put away big, closely matched gas “funny” field, due mainly to Gapp’s fine driving.”.
