This is interesting photo. Dad made a trip down to Brazil in the 1970’s to do some promotion work for Ford.
This is a image from the Brazilian portion of the trip.

This is a fairly rare photo…for me that is.
This is a picture of Jack Roush driving the Barrie Poole Pinto that G&R picked up.
There’s more to the story but let’s just enjoy the cool photo!

Been awhile since I posted. Almost two months. Busy, busy, busy.
Here’s a bit of information that I got from the Facebook Nostalgia Pro Stock group (via Dan Williams via Angel Cordero). It comes from the December 1976 issue of Car Craft’s ‘Straight Scoop’ column.
FILLING THE GAPP.
The Gapp and Roush Pro Stock team has several new acquisitions. First is the 1977 Pinto, complete with the aerodynamic shovel nose, for use in the new season. And to go along with the new car, they have a new operator: Ken Dondero, formerly associated with Dyno Don and Team Jenkins, has replaced Wayne behind the wheel. With both Gapp and Roush free to concentrate on engine development, and with the possibility of a less punitive weight break next season, the blue and white Pinto may reappear in the winner’s circle.

Another action shot by Dan Williams of the 1976 Pinto of Gapp & Roush, driven by Wayne Gapp. In the far lane is the AMC Hornet of Wally Booth.

Check it out here.
This is a picture of the 1975 U.S. Nationals Pro Stock final round. Wayne Gapp vs. Richie Zul.
If you dig around on CompetitionPlus.com you can find the video of this race.
My last post (see here) was of the ‘Taxi’ at Indianapolis in 1974. That image was taken by Dan Williams.

Jack Grice sent me HIS picture from the same race. Almost the same exact position. It was taken either just a few minutes before or just after Dan’s.
The crowd has changed out but the guy polishing the car is still at work. In the case of Jack’s picture he is at the front of the car with the rag on the hood scoop.

This is an image of the 4 door Maverick taken by Dan Williams in 1974 at Indianapolis…the ‘Big Go’.
A few small things have changed on the car since it was introduced earlier in 1974.
The hood scoop is different and interestingly the name as well. The vehicle started off named the ‘Tijuana Taxi’ and then ‘Juana Taxi’. Those names didn’t last long as the car took on the name of ‘Taxi’ from just before this race to the end.

Dan Williams was kind enough to share a series of images he took in the 1970’s.
This one shows, from left to right, my Dad, Bill Jameson and I can’t remember his name.
I’ll post more of these as time permits.

Here’s a shot of someone prepping a mighty 351 Cleveland used to power the Pro Stock vehicles. Exhaust plates visible.
Todd Wingerter took the shot.
