Strange that the NHRA and IHRA had a race with the same name.

From late 1973 to late 1975 WG was on a roll. Won this race.
I’ve got one of the original posters.

The pics include Bob Glidden, Gapp & Roush and Truman Fields.
Can’t remember where I found this but…this is from a manual/book called ‘How to Build a 351c Pro Stock Pinto”.
There are two Gapp & Roush Pintos here.
On the left hand side second from the top is the original Glidden Pinto that he purchased from Gapp & Roush. Still in the original paint except for the removal of the name.
At the bottom on the left-hand side is the new Gapp and Roush pinto, the ’73 model. Unpainted on the West Coast at the Winternationals.
Now… this site is called ‘Gapp Online’. Why in the world would I put someone else’s car here?
Because I can.
Let’s start off with the fact that it’s a Boss 429 powered Maverick.
What’s it say on that fender….?
Oh yeah. “BOSS 429 by Gapp & Roush”. Good enough for me…
but wait..there’s more!
The car is the 2nd (Red) Gapp and Roush Maverick. It was sold to Jim Halloran and repainted in the PBR livery.

…Moving on to Pro Stock, the first round opened with low qualifier Wayne Gapp taking a 9.7, 138.67 bye run with his Ford Mustang II, and Tom Haller’s Vega stopped Dick Schadle’s Chevy. Kelly Chadwick the pulled a hole-shot on Les Swearingin, and he needed every bit of it as he could muster only a troubled 10.88 to nip Swearingin’s losing 10.85. Lynne Harrison ended the round with a 10.05, 135.73 mph solo when his competition didn’t show.
Gapp opened round two with Low E.T. and Top Speed of the Meet as he drilled Haller’s Vega, 9.65, 139.31 to a respectable 9.87, 138.88. Harrison then wasted a find 9.98, 138.08 on Chadwick’s 10.83, 125.11, setting the stage for the final.
On that money run, Gapp went all the way with a 9.66, 134.18 as Chadwick recorded his best time of the day in the loss, a 9.92, 134.12.
DENVER WCS, Denver, Colorado – The all-conquering Wayne Gapp streaked to yet another Pro Stock title as he defeated Kelly Chadwick’s Vega in the final with a 9.66, 134.18 to Chadwick’s losing 9.91, 134.12. The win put Gapp in an excellent position to win the overall Pro Points Standings championship.
FYI. The Gapp & Roush car is not Arlen Vanke’s. Just sayin’
Found this on eBay.
The inside cover is stamped with a label for a Elementary school Library.
This is the cover
Here’s one of the interior pages. Looks like the Winternationals?

Item 1
One of the biggest mysteries in Pro Stock circles surrounds the 4-door Maverick rumored to be sprung on the competition by Ford exponents Wayne Gapp and Jack Roush. The troops are wondering where, when, and if “The Limousine” (as it’s humorously referred to in the trade) will hit the strip. At Columbus?
Item 2
There’s a strong rumor floating about that Wayne Gapp and Jack Roush are preparing a Maverick 4-door for the Pro Stock wars. Seems that Gapp & Roush are intrigued with the 6.45 weight break for longer wheelbased cars, and feel that the Maverick in itself is aerodynamically superior to the smaller Pintos and Mustang II’s. This combination, which is said to be targeted for completion by the Springnationals, could prove to be most interesting!
Item 3
The long awaited debut of the Gapp & Roush 4-door Maverick occurred this past weekend at Maryland International Raceway, when NHRA World Champion Wayne Gapp stole the show at the NHRA Pro Stock Circuit race at the Budds Creek facility. Gapp hit an off-the-trailer 8.92, 154-mph effort with the “taxi”, and proceeded to win the entire meet, whipping Richie Zul in the final, 9.03 to 9.07.
